Sneezing, also called sternutation. Sneezing is body’s way of removing an irritation from nose. When the inside of nose gets a tickle, a message is sent to a special part of brain called the sneeze center. The sneeze center then sends a message to all the muscles that have to work together to create the amazingly complicated process that we call the sneeze.

Some of the muscles involved if sneeze are the abdominal muscles, the chest muscles, the diaphragm (the large muscle beneath lungs that makes breathe), the muscles that control vocal cords, and muscles in the back of throat. Don’t forget the eyelid muscles.

Most anything that can irritate the inside of nose can start a sneeze. Some common things include dust, cold air, or pepper. When you’re nose breathing air, viruses can enter and nest causing infection. Some people have allergies, and they sneeze when they are exposed to certain things, such as animal dander (which comes from the skin of common pets) or pollen (which comes from some plants).

Some people try to suppress a sneeze by pressing their noses so that the urge to sneeze disappears. It turned out to suppress a sneeze can actually become a serious problem if often done.

Suppress a sneeze can affect bodily functions and cause the germs that should be issued instead go back. Sneezing is an activity that is positive because it has a function to clean the pharynx (the cavity between the nose, mouth and throat) and this is a good thing, while hold the net is dangerous because it can pose some risks.

Dangers that can be generated if a person holding a sneeze that is:

  • Causing fractures in the nasal cartilage
  • nosebleed
  • Ruptured ear drum
  • hearing loss
  • vertigo
  • Retinas or having emphysema
  • Injuries arising generally affects the inner structure of the head.

Emphysema is a condition that can strike children or adults, this condition is extremely dangerous because it can restrict air supply. The signs that appear are usually the face or neck swelling and discomfort arise.

To help a person to be easily sneezing can be a way to see a bright light, it can stimulate the optic nerve that crosses the center line sneezes. In addition to the irritation that occurs in the nerve near the center of sneezing can also be triggers for sneezing.

When someone sneezes is usually followed by the release of bacteria or germs from the body. It is useful to keep the nose to keep them clean, so often sneeze occurs repeatedly.

So do not ever suppress a sneeze to avoid some of those risks. But do not forget to close your mouth and nose with hands, tissues, handkerchiefs or the crook of his arm when sneezing, so that bacteria and germs that come out are not harming others.

Sneezing, or sternutation, is uncontrolled burst of air through the nose and mouth. Sneezing is caused by an irritation to the nasal lining or the throat. Usually, sneezing is the result of dust or an allergen entering the nose.

While sneezing is often annoying, it is usually not serious. It may occur as part of an allergic reaction or may accompany an infection or illness. Sneezing may also result from a drug interaction, direct stimulation of the nose, such as by a nasal spray or touching of nasal mucosa, or from some other irritant. Sneezing may also accompany vasomotor rhinitis.

Sneezing generally can be prevented by avoiding irritants, such as dust or other allergens. If sneezing results from allergies or infections, removing the allergen, taking allergy medication, such as antihistamines or nasal sprays, or treating the infection will usually resolve the sneezing.
